Bournemouth pair to cycle London to Paris in aid of children’s medical research charity

Two members of Saffery’s Bournemouth office are gearing up to take on a gruelling three-day cycling challenge from London to Paris in support of Action Medical Research, the UK charity dedicated to funding research into conditions affecting babies, children and young people.

Roger Wareham, Senior Partner at Saffery’s Bournemouth office, and graduate trainee apprentice, Eloise Ward will join 53 fundraisers from across the legal, financial, investment, property and consulting professions for Möntare 2026, a fully supported ride taking place from 3 to 6 September. In total, 18 Saffery riders will take part. The route runs from Penshurst Place in Kent to Calais, on to Amiens, before a final stage into Paris finishing near the Eiffel Tower.

Möntare is organised by Action Medical Research, with Saffery among the event’s lead partners alongside law firm Keystone Law and intellectual property firm Mewburn Ellis. Funds raised will help the charity continue funding breakthroughs in areas such as premature birth, rare childhood diseases and neurological conditions, building on past successes including advances in prenatal ultrasound and meningitis treatment.

Roger Wareham said, “As Partner, I’m proud to be flying the flag for our Bournemouth office on this challenge. It’s a fantastic opportunity to push ourselves physically while raising money for a cause that makes a real difference to children and families. The charity has funded groundbreaking research that has improved and saved countless children’s lives, and we’re proud to play our part in helping fund the next breakthrough.”I’d encourage everyone to get behind Eloise and me as we take on the ride to Paris.”

Eloise Ward, who joined Saffery in December 2025 as a graduate trainee after studying business at Cardiff University, added, “It’s a brilliant charity to support, and it’s great to be giving it more of a profile. I’m really looking forward to taking on the challenge and doing my bit for such an important cause.”
