Poole’s Regency Manor care home unveils first refurbished rooms for new residents as Kanesbury Care invests in its original flagship home
Kanesbury Care, the award-winning independent family-owned care group, has begun a major refurbishment of Regency Manor, its 69-bed home in Upper Parkstone, Poole. The first newly designed rooms for new residents are now ready for families to view.
Regency was the first care home in Dorset to be rated Outstanding, and it has long been considered the group’s statement home. The refurbishment builds on that legacy. A new showroom and five newly designed bedrooms for new residents are now complete, with more to follow. Work is also under way to revamp the home’s communal areas, including the residents’ lounges and café-style space, for both existing and new residents and their families to enjoy.
The new bedrooms have been designed to feel like home rather than a care setting. They use calm, neutral tones and familiar touches that show families how a room can be personalised. The revamped communal areas will keep the brighter, more stimulating colour palette that research shows benefits people living with dementia. This balance will give residents lively spaces for socialising and peaceful spaces to rest.
The project was led by Kanesbury’s Tori Kerr, working with Alex Thomas, Head of People and Culture.
Tori advised, “Regency has always been special to us, and families consistently tell us it has a warm, homely feel. We wanted the rooms to match that. When families walk in, we want them to be able to picture visiting their mum or dad there and feel completely comfortable. The early reaction has been wonderful. Some of the first people to see the new room asked for it before it was even finished.”
Regency sits in a quiet cul-de-sac close to Ashley Cross, with views across Poole Harbour. It remains part of the local community rather than set apart from it.
Families who are exploring care options for a loved one are invited to book a winter tour of Regency Manor to see the newly designed rooms now available for new residents. To arrange a visit, call 01202 037373 or email info@kanesburycare.co.uk.
