Boxing Champion Chris Billam-Smith Backs New Forest First Aid Training at Avonwood School

World boxing champion Chris Billam-Smith has teamed up with New Forest First Aid Training (NFFAT) to deliver lifesaving skills to pupils at Avonwood Primary School. Through his business, Consistency Builds Success, Chris is proudly sponsoring first aid training for 250 pupils,  a significant investment in the safety, confidence, and wellbeing of young people.

The training is being delivered through the Mini Medics programme, an engaging, child-friendly initiative designed to introduce school pupils to the basics of first aid in a fun, safe, and interactive way.

Chris, who hails from Bournemouth and is a former pupil of Portchester School, remains deeply connected to his community roots. His passion for youth and community development has driven this partnership with New Forest First Aid Training, a local organisation dedicated to equipping children with essential first aid knowledge.

“As a father to a three-year-old and a newborn, I’ve come to understand just how important it is for parents, and children, to feel prepared for life’s emergencies,” said Chris. “The greatest responsibility of a parent is parenting, and that includes empowering the next generation with the tools to help themselves and others.”

Known in the boxing world as “The Gentleman”, Chris held the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Cruiserweight title from 2023 to 2024, as well as the British, Commonwealth, and European cruiserweight titles. His commitment to discipline and community shines through both in and out of the ring.

New Forest First Aid Training is proud to work alongside Chris on this initiative and believes this partnership will serve as a model for how sport, business, and education can collaborate to make a lasting impact.

Co-Founders and Directors James Osborne and Joe Day shared:

“Our mission is to have a first aider in every house. We believe that everyone should have the skills and knowledge necessary to save a life in an emergency. By using the Mini Medics approach in schools, we can initiate this interest early, creating a habit of good community spirit and a strong desire to help others.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to Chris for believing in our mission and investing in the next generation. His support means so much—not just to us, but to the hundreds of families who will benefit from this vital training.”
