Saffery Champness Chartered Accountants welcomed local business from across Dorset and Hampshire to an event entitled, ‘Back to the Future’. Held at AFC Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium it included breakfast and networking, followed by a seminar with presentations from Saffery staff.
Opening the event, Head of Bournemouth Office and Partner Roger Wareham gave an update on what the business is seeing locally with its client base and the type of work that the team are supporting their clients with, including:
· Ownership structuring
· Group restructuring
· International expansion
· Accelerated exit planning
· Attracting and retaining key staff
· Ensuring that business owners are “match fit” for growth and future transactions
· Sustainability and climate responsibilities
Following on from Roger was Partner David Chismon who talked through current personal tax matters following the Budget which are relevant for clients, including the ongoing use of trusts, family investment companies, and incorporating property businesses. David also touched on the areas HMRC are looking at in the offshore arena.
Finally, Tax Director Richard Meller discussed planning opportunities ahead of the rise in Corporate Tax rates, the breadth of reliefs available for companies incurring capital expenditure and provided an update on topical issues the Safferys team are seeing as businesses bounce back from lockdown.
Roger advised, “It was fantastic to see so many of our clients and professional contacts in person again. We’ve had some great conversations and are looking forward to supporting them over the next phase of the covid cycle.”
