Lewis-Manning Hospice Care CEO Clare Gallie was shortlisted for the coveted title of the Charity Retail Association’s ‘Most Supportive Chief Executive’ Award.
The annual national Charity Retail Awards took place at a prestigious ceremony in Nottingham, where leading charities from across the UK and esteemed sector leaders came together, having been nominated for a glittering array of awards. Clare was shortlisted for the ‘Most Supportive Chief Executive’ Award, alongside much respected charity sector CEO’s, such as Kate Heaps – Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice, Jane Gurney – Essex & Herts Air Ambulance and Trevor Caffull – Salvation Army Trading Company. Kate Heaps won the award.
Clare said, “I feel very honoured to have been nominated by the staff at Lewis-Manning Hospice. It’s funny that the more you are seen as being supportive, the more support you subsequently gain from your staff, all of whom have been brilliant.
I’ve been at the hospice for over 2 years now and it’s fantastic to see how much positive change there has been in that time. We’ve done lots of hard work on our culture and values which are now centred on kindness and support when working with our patients, our volunteers and each other. Sadly I didn’t win the award, however, I am delighted that I made the final 4 shortlist. I was up against some very large organisations and brilliant CEO’s from across the UK. I wish Kate Heaps huge congratulations on her award.”

Every year we support nearly 500 local people and we develop new services, based on patient need and identified gaps in the area.To do this we need to raise over £1.6m every year. Without these funds we could not exist.Our important work increases people’s physical and social well-being, reduces isolation and loneliness, supports people to stay in their homes longer, and alleviates the huge pressures on family and carers.
