Former Bournemouth School student hits the ground running as Whitefox Chartered Surveyors’ newest apprentice
Bournemouth-based Whitefox Chartered Surveyors has welcomed Ben Johnson White as its latest apprentice surveyor, giving the former Bournemouth School student a fast-track route into the profession.
Ben, who studied economics, PE and business at A-level, spent his gap year playing football for Poole Town while searching for an apprenticeship. He came across the Whitefox Chartered Surveyors role online and realised it suited both his strengths and his interests.
He now spends Mondays studying at the University of Portsmouth, as part of his four-year apprenticeship, and the rest of the week working alongside the Whitefox Chartered Surveyors team on live projects across project management, cost consultancy and contract administration. In his first month he has already visited sites including Bobby & Co in Bournemouth, the Brewers Quay regeneration in Weymouth, and a major residential remodel in Wimborne.
Ben said: “I feel really lucky to be part of the team. I’ve been out on site from day one, and I’m surprised how much I’ve learned already. I’m getting experience across project management as well as surveying, so every day is different. Having Josh Byrne, who’s in the final year of his apprenticeship, to learn from makes a huge difference. I can see exactly where this pathway leads.”
Darren Frias Robles, Managing Director of Whitefox Chartered Surveyors, said: [Suggested quote for approval] “We believe the best way to learn this profession is on real projects, alongside experienced colleagues. Ben has made a fantastic start, and our apprenticeship programme, with Josh now in his final year, shows the career local young people can build right here in Dorset.”
