Adventure Attractions Back Government’s Great British Summer Savings Push with Free Access to Bournemouth Pier and 25% Off Adventures at RockReef
Iconic south coast attraction takes immediate action to help families stretch budgets further as VAT reduction kicks in
Adventure Attractions are throwing their weight behind the Government’s Great British Summer Savings initiative, and going even further, by removing the historic Bournemouth Pier Toll and offering families 25% off at RockReef and PierZip, the adventure climbing and zipline attractions at the end of the pier.
The Government’s scheme, launching on 25th June, will temporarily reduce VAT on children’s attractions and leisure activities from 20% to 5% until 1 September, as part of a national effort to make family days out more affordable this summer, including their birthday packages. Bournemouth Pier and RockReef are building on that momentum with immediate, additional savings for visitors.
Featuring 28 Clip ‘n Climb walls, the Vertical Slide, HighLine aerial obstacle course and PierZip, the world’s first pier-to-shore zip wire, RockReef is helping families make their money go further as households continue to seek affordable UK days out and staycation experiences.
With international uncertainty, rising travel costs and continued pressure on family budgets, many families are expected to choose UK staycations and day trips this summer. Bournemouth remains one of the country’s most popular seaside destinations, offering award-winning beaches, free family entertainment and a wide range of attractions without the cost and complexity often associated with overseas travel.
Sarah Hunter, Managing Director of Adventure Attractions, operator of Bournemouth Pier and RockReef, said:
“The Government’s Great British Summer Savings initiative is a really positive step in making family leisure more accessible, and we wanted to go even further.
“Removing the Pier Toll was a significant investment in improving access and supporting local tourism. Adding a 25% discount at RockReef and PierZip means families can enjoy even more of what Bournemouth has to offer while keeping costs under control.
“There’s a national conversation taking place about making family attractions more affordable. We’re proud to be taking practical action right now, removing barriers to entry and helping families make their budgets go further this summer.”
The 25% discount is available until 1 September 2026 and applies on selected RockReef and PierZip activities. The offer forms part of Bournemouth Pier’s wider commitment to delivering value for visitors while supporting the local tourism economy during what is expected to be a strong summer season for domestic travel.
Since opening in 2014, RockReef and PierZip have welcomed millions of visitors and established itself as one of the South Coast’s leading indoor and outdoor adventure attractions, drawing guests from across the UK.
