Valeria Romano Appointed Advisor for Women in Business for Dorset Business Angels

Dorset Business Angels has appointed Valeria Romano as its new Advisor for Women in Business, strengthening its commitment to increasing female participation within the investment ecosystem.

In this newly created role, Valeria will act as the first point of contact for female founders and investors seeking to engage with the organisation. Her focus will be on guiding women on how to approach investors, refine their pitch, and confidently navigate the investment process.

Many female founders report feeling daunted when approaching predominantly male investor groups, creating a confidence and access gap at a critical stage of growth. The new advisory position is designed to provide a more approachable and supportive entry point.

Valeria said, “Too many brilliant women hesitate to approach investors because they feel the room wasn’t designed for them. This role is about changing that perception. I want women to feel that there is a clear, welcoming door into Dorset Business Angels.”

Valeria focuses on pre-investment guidance rather than business planning and will advise women on approaching investors and refining pitches and connect founders with relevant resources, including accelerator programmes, such as Evolve.

“Even if someone isn’t ready to pitch, I can help them understand the process and prepare for when the time comes,” Valeria added.

Valeria, a company director specialising in residential property development, also runs a coaching programme supporting women entering the traditionally male-dominated property sector. She brings six years of experience in development alongside a strong understanding of the UK ecosystem for women in business.

Dorset Business Angels supports the Investing in Women Code, the government-backed initiative tackling the funding gap between male and female entrepreneurs. Valeria’s new advisory role further aligns with the organisation’s commitment to creating a more inclusive investment environment.

Female founders interested in engaging with Dorset Business Angels, whether ready to pitch or simply considering investment, are encouraged to get in touch.
