New Marketing Suite Opens at Weymouth Brewery Development
The historic Weymouth Brewery site has marked another milestone in its transformation with the official opening of the new marketing suite, giving prospective buyers and the public the first opportunity to engage directly with the landmark development.
The redevelopment of Brewers Quay, a building with deep historical and cultural ties to the town, is being delivered in three ambitious phases by Brewery (Weymouth) Ltd, with Whitefox Chartered Surveyors acting as Contract Administrators and Cost Consultants.
Jason Craig, Developer, commented:
“The opening of the marketing suite is an exciting step in the regeneration of this iconic building. Our vision has always been to create something that respects Weymouth’s heritage while offering modern, high-quality homes and spaces for the future. It’s incredibly rewarding to see this vision becoming reality. It’s the beginning of a new community, a place where people will build their futures, create memories, and enjoy the very best of modern living.”
Local leaders also shared their enthusiasm for the progress:
Lloyd Hatton MP for South Dorset said:
“As a child, I remember when the brewery closed. Seeing it now revitalised and soon to reopen is absolutely fantastic. It’s just another way that we can breathe new life into Weymouth town centre.”
Mayoress, Cllr. Caroline Nickinson, added:
“It’s such an important building in our town. On behalf of the community, I acknowledge the substantial commitment of the developers in realising this project. It’s a wonderful example of preserving the past while investing in our future.”
Project Milestones
The Weymouth Brewery redevelopment has already seen major progress:
- Phase One – Coopers Mews: Three single-storey dwellings, now fully sold and occupied, including one bespoke combined home.
- Phase Two – Brewery Reach: A transformation of a former car park into six townhouses and twelve apartments, now 90% sold, praised for their design that complements the town’s coastal charm.
Both phases have already welcomed new residents, creating vibrant new communities within this historic location.
Work is now progressing on Phase Three – the main Brewers Quay building, which will deliver ten mews houses, eight apartments, ground-floor retail, and the permanent new home for Weymouth Museum. Completion is anticipated in 2026.
Phase Four will see the completion of a further thirty-one apartments in 2027.
Matthew Allibone, Director at Whitefox Chartered Surveyors, said:
“It’s been a pleasure to contribute our expertise to such a unique and historically rich project. Our focus has been on delivering a practical and beautiful scheme while preserving the history and fabric of the building.”
Heritage and Discovery
The project has also uncovered and preserved extraordinary pieces of Weymouth’s history, including original brewing vats, artworks, and the 19th-century Laureate boat. These treasures will form part of the new museum collection, ensuring the building’s story continues to be shared with future generations.
The iconic Brewers Quay school chimney and original architectural features, such as the timber high roof lantern, remain integral to the design, blending old and new in a way that celebrates the town’s identity.
Looking Ahead
With the marketing suite now open, interest in the development is expected to grow further, particularly among local buyers with ties to the area. The project continues to attract strong community support as it progresses towards its final phase.
