Trethowans renews strategic partnership with Play to the Crowd
Play to the Crowd, the arts and education charity that runs Theatre Royal Winchester, Hat Fair and Playmakers, is pleased to announce that its Strategic Partner, Trethowans, has pledged to continue to support the charity’s mission to delight and unite the community through live performance.
Trethowans has extended its Strategic Partnership of Theatre Royal Winchester for a further 12 months, to ensure the continuation of the much-valued partnership and shared commitment to culture and creativity across Winchester city centre and district. The law firm, which has offices across the central South of England, originally became Strategic Partner in 2023.
Trethowans’ Private Client team also supported the charity during their recent involvement in Winchester’s inaugural Legacy Action Week, attending free public information events to provide practical guidance and help raise awareness of the impact gift-making, donations and legacy decisions can have in the local community.
Laura Bell, family law Partner and Head of the Winchester office at Trethowans said: “As we enter our third year as Strategic Partner of Theatre Royal Winchester, we remain proud to support such a valued community asset. The venue’s rich history, combined with the inspiring work of Play to the Crowd, continues to bring people together through arts, culture and education. We’re delighted to continue our partnership and champion the theatre’s role in the region.”
Deryck Newland, Chief Executive of Play to the Crowd, said: “We’re delighted that Trethowans are continuing their support for another year. Their investment helps us bring live performance to more people and keep Theatre Royal Winchester thriving. Live performance plays a big role in building stronger, healthier communities, and we’re grateful to Trethowans for recognising the importance of that.”
Kirstie Mathieson, Communications and Development Director at Play to the Crowd, added: “Support from local businesses like Trethowans makes a real difference. Their continued backing shows real commitment to the arts and to the community. We’re grateful for their energy and enthusiasm.”
Theatre Royal Winchester presents a diverse programme each year, presenting over 350 performances to over 80,000 people – from traditional plays to new-writing, music to comedy, screenings, family shows to talks as well as providing a platform for many local community groups.
