Whitefox Director Runs London Marathon in Memory of His Dad, Raising Funds for Hospice UK

Matt Allibone, Director at Whitefox Chartered Surveyors, is preparing to take on the iconic TCS London Marathon on Sunday 27th April, running in memory of his late father, Terry Allibone, who sadly passed away from cancer in October 2024.

Matt is raising funds for Hospice UK, a cause that holds deep personal significance. Terry received outstanding end-of-life care and the Lewis-Manning Hospice Care team and Macmillan Unit in Christchurch, supported the Allibone family during a very difficult time.

“Hospices are selfless places,” said Matt. “They give everything without expecting anything in return. They help people live and die well—with compassion, care and dignity—and they also provide invaluable support to families, including bereavement counselling.”

Whitefox Chartered Surveyors has a longstanding history of supporting local hospice care, particularly Julia’s House Hospice in Dorset. However, Matt felt that fundraising for a national cause like Hospice UK was the right fit for this challenge.

“I enjoy running and I’ve always dreamed of doing the London Marathon,” he added. “Running it in memory of my dad just makes sense. It’s a great way to honour him while helping a cause that helped us so much.”

With his training well on track, Matt is currently in the taper phase ahead of race day. He’s set himself an ambitious target time of 3 hours 15 minutes, but says he’ll be happy with anything under 3 hours 30.

“It’s going to be a brilliant weekend. My family and a couple of friends are coming to cheer me on—I’ve got lots of support, which means a lot.”

Matt has set a fundraising goal of £2,500, and has already reached £1,800, with donations continuing to come in. “The generosity has been humbling,” he says. “I’m hugely grateful for all the support.”
