Poole BID Announces Lewis-Manning Hospice Care as Charity of the Year 2025

Poole BID has announced Lewis-Manning Hospice Care as its Charity of the Year for 2025.

The local charity, well-known for its compassionate support of patients and families affected by life-limiting conditions, will benefit from increased visibility and fundraising opportunities through this partnership. Lewis-Manning Hospice Care has been an integral part of the Poole community, providing exceptional palliative care services from their day hospice on Longfleet Road. They also offer vital home visits, local support groups, and an innovative virtual service, ensuring that patients receive tailored care that respects their individual needs and preferences. Excitingly, the charity’s Fundraising, Marketing, and Communications team have relocated to a new office within the Poole BID levy area in early 2025, reinforcing their strong connection to the heart of the town. Additionally, their popular retail shop on Poole High Street, which also serves as the base for their successful e-commerce and eBay operations, continues to thrive, thanks to the generous support of the community.

Outgoing Charity of the Year – Julia’s House

Poole BID would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to Julia’s House, the outgoing Charity of the Year. Julia’s House has made an extraordinary impact in supporting children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions and their families across Dorset and Wiltshire. Although their tenure as Charity of the Year concludes on April 1st, Poole BID is excited to continue collaborating with Julia’s House on the upcoming Great Tail Trail. This inspiring public art trail will feature beautifully designed Mermaid tails installed across the BCP conurbation, celebrating the community’s creativity while raising funds for the charity. Poole BID will also be supporting this initiative with its own ‘Tales of Poole’ Walk & Talk Tour, running through April and May, offering a unique way to explore the town and its tails while supporting a great cause.

Wendy King, Poole BID Communications and Operations Manager said: “We are delighted to welcome Lewis-Manning Hospice Care as our Charity of the Year. Their commitment to providing compassionate care and unwavering support to patients and families aligns perfectly with our values of supporting the local community. We also want to thank Julia’s House for their incredible work and look forward to collaborating on the Great Tail Trail and the ‘Tales of Poole’ Walk & Talk Tours.”

Fiona Harwood, Lewis-Manning Hospice Care – Corporate Partnerships Manager: “We are beyond grateful to be named Poole BID’s Charity of the Year. This partnership will not only help us raise much-needed funds but also raise awareness about the essential services we provide to those with life-limiting illnesses. It is an honour to be recognised and supported by the local business community, and we can’t wait to see the impact we can achieve together.”

Quote from Katie Thompson, Business and Community Fundraiser -Julia’s House: “It has been an absolute privilege to be Poole BID’s Charity of the Year. The support from local businesses and the wider community has made a real difference to the children and families we care for. The partnership has enabled us to work with other groups, such as Events By Stir at Poole Vintage Festival and Cliff Top Music Festival. Poole BID also enabled us to collect donations during the summer of 2024, raising over £1000 from bucket collections. We are thrilled to continue our partnership through the Great Tail Trail, and we can’t wait to see the town come together in support of the event.” For more information about Lewis-Manning Hospice Care or Julia’s House and how you can support their causes, visit their websites and check out their inspirational patient stories: https://lewis-manning.org.uk/ https://www.juliashouse.org/
