Adventure Attractions celebrates 10th anniversary of RockReef and the PierZip!

Bournemouth Pier, which is operated by Adventure Attractions, is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its attractions, RockReef adventure attraction and the PierZip.

Adventure Attractions MD Sarah Hunter said, “The past ten years have flown by for the business! It was May 2014 when we opened the doors to RockReef, our indoor all weather adventure attraction which boasts 28 climbing challenges, an aerial obstacle course, Pier Cave, Vertical Slide, Leap of Faith jumping challenge and a café on the top floor.

“Just a few months later in September 2014 we launched the world’s first pier to shore zip wire and the PierZip was born. The dual zip line means you can ride with family & friends and challenge them to race to the shore. Launching from the Zip Tower platform 25mtrs above the sea, thrill-seekers race out and “zip surf” 250 meters over the top of the waves to land on the beach.

“Both attractions have received a lot of attention with RockReef establishing itself as a popular venue for parties and groups and with the PierZip also playing host to a wide range of visitors; holiday makers, locals, many charity challenges, stag & hen parties, members of the Red Devils parachute teams during the air show, corporate away days and for several years it has been featured on Good Morning Britain Breakfast Show during the summer months.

“The Victorian pleasure pier is the most iconic symbol of the British seaside holiday and pier’s play a vital role in terms of resort identity, heritage, employment, community pride and tourism. Bournemouth Pier, operated by Adventure Attractions employ over 150 staff during peak season and RockReef & PierZip now welcome over 100,000 visitors per year.

“We are extremely proud of how RockReef and the PierZip and the investment made in them by Adventure Attractions has helped to reinvent Bournemouth Pier, at a time when many piers have fallen into disrepair or not had the investment made in them to make them attractions relevant to the 21st century. Over the last 10 years, turnover from Bournemouth Pier has increased by over 3 million, this has resulted in year-on-year increased revenue paid to BCP council.

“Both attractions have won many awards, including the Dorset Tourism Awards, Destination Awards and Bournemouth Business Awards, a fantastic achievement for all the team.”

“We will be marking the 10th anniversary with a celebratory event and competitions to win tickets, keep an eye out on our website and social media for further details.”
