Barker Laundry & Dry Cleaning enters specialist hospitality market
Dorset based Barker, the largest domestic laundry in the UK and a leading Dry Cleaner, has entered the commercial laundry market, with a specialist offering to boutique hotels and airbnb’s across the Bournemouth Christchurch & Poole (BCP) region and the New Forest.
The business’s expansion in the sector comes after significant investment, some 18 months ago, of nearly £1m in new plant and machinery. This led to significantly increased efficiencies, as well as achieving sustainability goals within the business.
MD Matthew Barker advised, “The extensive refit led to increased capacity and capability of some 50% and 20% more working space, achieved through a clever redesign of the workflow and repositioning of plant and machinery.
“Branching out into the commercial hospitality sector feels like very natural and organic growth for the business and we are so pleased that over the last 2 years our revenue and margin has grown significantly with further exciting growth in the pipeline this year.
“Even in just the 1st quarter of 2024, our revenue in the hospitality sector has grown by over 10%. There is much positivity being felt.
“Various closures and amalgamations of larger industrial laundries over recent times have left many of their clients in the hospitality sector desperate for good quality laundry services. New business opportunities have become available to us and we are well prepared to service them.
