Gallagher host corporate charity Quiz night in support of Julia’s House Hospice
The Poole office of Gallagher hosted a Corporate Charity Quiz and Bingo evening in support of Julia’s House, The Dorset and Wilshire Children’s Hospice.
The occasion helped Julia’s House mark 20 years of life-changing care and took place at the Marsham Court Hotel in Bournemouth. The room was packed to capacity with over 20 teams of 8 participating in what was a brilliantly fun evening, expertly hosted and compered by professional quizmaster Ashley Hooper. The evening ended with a raffle and auction to ensure that an incredible £4,881 was raised for the charity. This figure will be matched funded by Gallagher who will look forward to presenting a cheque for £9,762 to the hospice.
Teams paid £200 to enter and enjoyed a buffet supper plus a free drink on arrival and a keenly fought quiz contest which included rounds such a picture quiz, Christmas music quiz and the main general knowledge quiz,
Head of Office, Matt Williams said, “As a business we recognise the importance of serving and supporting the local community, so much so that for every £1 we raise in our charity work is matched by Gallagher centrally. We’re really enjoying working with Julia’s House as our nominated Charity of the Year, not only do we both enjoy a long-standing relationship going back several years but the work they do is just incredible and vital to the community – we couldn’t be prouder to support them.
“We are blown away by the amount that our event raised. So many businesses have been so generous in donating auction lots and raffle prizes, we had some brilliant items up for grabs, from football and rugby memorabilia to cricket tickets, a helicopter ride, golf experience and so much more.
“The atmosphere in the room was buzzing, there was great camaraderie between all the competing teams and lots of good humoured banter taking place and lots of competitive spirit!
“The main quiz was won by Team Insync, by a single point so it was a very close contest with all the teams. Big thanks to everyone who took part and helped make our evening such a fun occasion.”
Caroline Attreed, Corporate Fundraiser at Julia’s House Hospice said, “Julia’s House has been providing life-changing care for the most seriously ill local children and their families for two decades. Care that is critical for families struggling to cope but would never have been there if it wasn’t for Julia’s House. Thank you to Matt, Dave and the whole team at Gallagher for organising this quiz event and also to everyone taking part and for donating so very generously. It felt very special to have so many amazing businesses in the room, all helping to make a vital difference in their local community by providing a lifeline of care to our families.”
