Fun climbing for all with RockReef’s New SEND Session!
RockReef on Bournemouth Pier has introduced a new SEND session on Thursday afternoons, from 4pm-5:30pm.
Some children and young people may require more help to learn and develop than otgher children and young people of the same age. If this is the case they may be classed as having special educational needs or disability (SEND) so they can get extra support.
RockReef has introduced this new session to offer a safe environment for these individuals to express themselves during a closed/protected session, enjoying the quieter and less hectic environment as experienced during a typical busy trading day.
RockReef has 28 climbing challenges to choose from, a highline aerial obstacle course, pier Cave and adrenaline activities, there’s something to suit everyone. Activities are suitable for children age 4 and up.
Sarah Hunter, Marketing Manager said “RockReef will provide calm music and sounds and any additional lighting to assist with the ambience and environment for our SEND visitors. There will be a safe ‘break-out’ space for individuals who need some time out, privacy or extra support from their parent/guardian/carer.”
Sarah continued “The variety of fun, themed climbing walls really helps to stimulate the senses so we are really pleased to be able to offer a dedicated session to those that have additional needs as we strive to make RockReef accessible for everyone to enjoy.”
RockReef SEND sessions will start on Thursday 5th January and run every Thursday 16:00pm – 17:30pm during term time. More sessions will be added if these sessions become popular and SEND groups and schools can contact RockReef on 01202 237915 if they would like prices and availability of exclusive use on a different day.
RockReef instructors are trained in SEND and will be on hand to help support and supervise safety. SEND sessions will have low, calm background music, soft lighting and reduced numbers. There will also be a safe ‘break-out space’ available for individuals who need some time out, privacy or extra support from their parent/guardian/carer.
