Gales Solicitors is coming together with 200 charities this September to shine a spotlight on gifts in Wills. Throughout Remember A Charity Week (6-12 September 2021), Gales Solicitors will be working to raise awareness of the option of giving to charity from your Will, after taking care of family and friends.
Gifts in Wills have become increasingly prevalent as people consider their imprint on the world and look for meaningful ways to give back to the good causes they care about. In the UK, 100 people each day now write a gift to charity into their Will, raising over £3 billion for good causes annually and funding vital services across the country.*
Kathryn Cole, Wills & Probate Manager at Gales said, “We are delighted to be part of this year’s Remember A Charity Week. We know that charitable causes are so important for many of our clients and that writing a gift into their Will can be such a rewarding way to give back. During the week, we’ll be sharing information about remembering a charity in your Will and encouraging people to get in touch with their questions.
“Often, people think that a charitable legacy has to be large or that they can only choose a well-known charity, but the reality is that you can give any amount to any organisation. And what’s so important is that you can fit those gifts around your wishes for family and friends. These donations can have a huge impact on charitable causes. What a wonderful way to be remembered!”
Rob Cope, director of Remember A Charity – a consortium of 200 UK charities, adds: “Legacy giving can be transformational for UK charities and, during the pandemic, this income stream has been all the more critical. From homeless shelters to animal rescue services, hospital equipment to mental health helplines and more, gifts in Wills are enabling charities to sustain and even upscale services at a time of urgent need.”
This Remember A Charity Week, campaign supporters and charities will be working together to encourage people across the country to consider how they might change the world for future generations by leaving a gift in their Will.
