MyTIME charity for young carers supported by TUI Care Foundation for activity play days at RockReef on Bournemouth Pier
Dorset based, MyTIME charity worked in conjunction with Bournemouth and Poole Young Carers groups to co-host two activity play days at RockReef indoor activity attraction on Bournemouth Pier. The play days were made possible thanks to the generous support of the TUI Care Foundation, who have made MyTIME their charity partner for two years.
Community Partnership’s Director Joanne Barker advised, “We are delighted to be supported by the TUI Care Foundation and thank the TUI Airways crew at Bournemouth Airport for recommending we become their local base charity. The donations we receive from the charity collections onboard their flights offers us invaluable support that makes these play days for young carers possible. It was fantastic to be able to support 28 children from across Bournemouth and Poole and see them getting stuck in to the activities at RockReef. They had a huge amount of fun and really enjoyed the challenges of the 28 rock climbing walls. It was so lovely to see them smiling and relaxed, they all got on well and it was great to see them helping and encouraging each other. Many of them achieved things they thought they wouldn’t be able to do which was incredibly pleasing to see and helped individuals grow in confidence.”
14-year-old young carer Amelia enthused, “I really enjoyed my time at the Clip and Climb centre, it looked amazing. We had lots of things to do with different levels of difficulty and challenges.”
MyTIME Charity and Outdoor Centre works to help 100s of heroic young carers across Dorset and the UK to take a break and have some well-earned fun for themselves. The charity has built a community so that young carers do not feel alone and forgotten and are able to connect with others in a similar position, sharing experiences, finding support, and receiving mentoring and education. The charity’s vision is to ensure that every young carer in the UK has access to its life-changing support and that the young carers of the past will in turn support the young carers of the future. www.mytimecharity.co.uk
RockReef is based on adventure sports and includes an all-weather indoor adventure activity attraction which features 28 “Clip n Climb” fun, themed indoor climbing walls, a real rock wall climbing experience, a Vertical Drop Slide, a ‘Leap of Faith’ Challenge, the HighLine high ropes obstacle course and the PierCave which is a 65-linear metre indoor fun cave experience www.rockreef.co.uk
